ShareJack support
A little help
getting connected.
From the first pairing to your next transfer.
Install on both computers
ShareJack is available for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 12 or later, and Intel or AMD x64 Windows PCs. Install it on both computers before pairing.
On Mac, open the DMG and drag ShareJack into Applications. On Windows, run the setup file and follow the installer. Open ShareJack on both computers.
Pair over your local network
- Connect both computers to the same local network and open ShareJack.
- Select Connect next to the other computer.
- Enter the eight-digit code shown on the receiving computer into the requesting computer.
- Approve the connection on both devices.
Pairing is saved. Your approved computers reconnect automatically when they are available.
Connect over the internet
Choose Add device → Over the internet → Create invitation. Send the invitation to the other computer and accept it there within three minutes. Verify the eight-digit code and approve the pairing on both sides.
Internet sharing must be enabled on both computers. No router port forwarding or personal server is required. Both computers must be running ShareJack and connected during a transfer.
A computer isn’t showing up
Check that ShareJack is running on both computers and that the intended devices are on a network that allows them to reach each other. Guest Wi-Fi and client isolation can prevent local discovery.
Allow the app’s local network permission on macOS or private-network access on Windows when requested. For internet connections, check that internet sharing is enabled on both devices.
Choose where files arrive
ShareJack starts with a ShareJack folder inside your Downloads location. Use Change next to Incoming files to choose another folder. Your existing folder preference is kept.
Drop a file or folder on the selected device, or use the file and folder pickers. Files and subfolder paths are preserved; empty folders, symbolic links and macOS-specific extended attributes are not transferred.
Manage access and incoming files
In Settings, turn off automatic acceptance of internet files if you want to approve each incoming internet file. Local-network transfers from paired devices continue to arrive automatically.
To remove a device’s access, find it in the allowed devices list and choose Forget. That computer must pair again before it can reconnect.
Updates and help
Use the in-app update flow, or download the current release. If something goes wrong, include your operating system, ShareJack version and a short description. Remove private device details from screenshots or logs.
